The fourth “P” that made PPP work: Partnership

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Royal Oak, MI

As the depth of the pandemic and its financial implications on Good Shepherd Lutheran Church became clear last spring, the staff reached out to the church’s local bank to begin the Paycheck Protection Program application process. But they were told not to bother. Too many other applicants were already in line.

Good Shepherd’s pastor then reached out to the ELCA Federal Credit Union, which, thanks to its partnership with the Mission Investment Fund, was well-positioned to give Good Shepherd and many other ELCA congregations in need an entirely different response.
